5 Most Dangerous Roads in The World

If you think Malaysian roads are crazy, you have not seen the worst! Here are some of the world’s most dangerous roads:

1. The Stelvio Pass, Italy
Danger rating: 3/5

The Stelvio Pass looks like a child’s drawing of roads over the hills. Don’t be fooled by its picturesque bends – with a 2 km climb and just a low concrete barrier between you and a steep mountain drop, all it takes is just a bit too much speed on one of the road’s 180 degree-corners to spell disaster.

2. Los Caracoles Pass, Chile
Danger rating: 3.5/5

Elevated at 3,176 meters, these steep, dizzying bends pass through the Andes in Argentina and Los Andes in Chile. There’s no safety barrier either. An easier option is to go by air or take the railway — if it’s ever brought back into service.

3. Guoliang Tunnel in the Taihang mountains, China
Danger rating: 3.75/5

Chinese villagers hacked this 1.2-kilometer tunnel along the edge of the Taihang mountains in 1972 with hand tools. Four meters wide and five meters high, the Guoliang tunnel also has some open edges over a rocky precipice, earning it the nickname “the road that does not tolerate mistakes”.

4. The Zoji Pass, India
Danger rating: 4/5

The Zoji Pass is a nine-kilometer stretch of road meanders over the mountain at 3,528 meters, with no barrier on one side and just the hard rock face on the other. However, it’s a lifeline that keeps the people of Ladakh in touch with the rest of the world, although it’s often cut off by heavy snow in winter. We definitely do not recommend it for anyone suffering from vertigo though!

5. The Road of Death, Bolivia
Danger rating: 5/5

Souce: Globo Treks

Once declared by the Inter-American Development Bank as the most dangerous road in the world, the aptly named “Road of Death” from La Paz to Coroico steeply drops a whopping 3.5 kilometers over its 65-kilometer stretch. It has since become a tourist destination for adventurous cyclists and runners thanks to its annual “Sky Race”.

We hope you don’t have to travel to any of these dangerous destinations! Rent a car on Kwikcar at some of the best rates in the Klang Valley. Check out our range of models NOW.
